Can someone recommend the best ways to make money with a website? (Own personal domain)?

I own my own domain, but would like suggestions on the best ways to generate earnings. My domain is through fatcow.com which allows me free access to services such as WordPress, ability to create custom chat rooms, forums, classifieds, etc. and so much more. The capabilities are endless and I really want to get the most for my money. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Chosen Answer:

You do NOT make money through Google Ads, unless you have a huge number of visitors: you get for 1000 clicks, and 1 visitor on 20 clicks an ad: you need 20,000 visitors for . Since Google pays you only when you have accumulated 0, you need 2,000,000 to make your first 0…

You make money two ways:
- Selling a product or a service
- Offering advertising space to marketing companies.

Selling a product or service is obvious: it is business.

Selling advertising space requires VISITORS. It you have a lot of visitors, you may have a chance of interesting advertisers.
However, you will not attract any advertiser with less than 50,000 unique visitors per month, and if you do, the income will be very low.
As an example: a small 100×400 banner will bring you -300/month IF you have 100,000 DAILY visitors.
So, revenues from advertising depends only on the number of visitors you have on your site, and ONLY start to be taken in consideration once you get about 100,000 visits a month.
NOT before.
SO, install a counter on your site… but don’t cry if you only have 100 visits a month.

To get visits, you must not only have an interesting/useful contents, you must also advertise your site, on and OFF the web.
And below 0/month budget, you will get NOWHERE – Promise!

Well, the main way is advertising. You have to get people to go to your site though, so you have to provide something interesting that people want to see. Google has a popular program for advertising.

The other way is to actually sell something, but then of course you have to have something to sell.
